A wonderful photograph of the Shanghai Bund looking across the river from Pudong. To the right of the then recently completed Cathay Hotel can be seen the Bank of China under construction (from which we are able to date the photo to late 1936 or early 1937). The Cathay Hotel is today known as The Peace Hotel
