Clive Uptton was a British artist and illustrator. In a varied career, he was a political cartoonist for the Daily Sketch and Sunday Graphic, designed posters for the Ministry of Information during WW2 and was a known painter of landscapes and portraits.

This is one of a series of posters Uptton produced for British Electricity at a time of modernisation and expansion of the industry.

The British Electricity Authority was formed in 1948 shortly after nationalisation of the UK electricity generation industry and was renamed the Central Electricity Authority in 1955.
