Portrait of Africa No.57 - Ceratotherium simum (2011)
Anton Lyalin
Born in Sochi, Russia in 1972, Anton Lyalin is one of the most accomplished young photographers working in Russia today. He has worked as a professional photographer since 2009, and was a Hasselblad Masters Finalist in the Wildlife category in 2010. Lyalin currently resides in Moscow.
Lyalin’s intensely powerful animal portraits are classical in composition and employ a dramatic use of light. His animals always appear natural and at peace with their surroundings, and yet it is as though he has a studio model to work with, the portraits so composed, as he captures the animals’ expressions, their mood, their eyes, filling his photographs with energy and emotion.
