Patterns of Living - a Hong Kong photography exhibition
David Elliott / Stefan Irvine & Jörg Dietrich / Eleanor McColl / Harold de Puymorin

26 August - 5 September, 2015

Cocktail Reception: Date: 26th August 2015 Venue: 13th Floor, 9 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong Time: 6pm to 8.30pm
For Hong Kong residents, dense high rise living and working is the standard and accepted lifestyle. The city literally rises up from the harbour and we crane our necks to look up towards the sky to the summit of our living spaces. Hong Kong is the archetypal high rise city, it defines the very concept of the skyscraper environment - this is our Pattern of Living. For this exhibition, Picture This has invited four Hong Kong resident photographers to explore the skyscraper environment. Their interpretations are very different, but each captures and articulates the essential density of the city, allowing us a novel view of our surroundings - from Harold de Puymorin's tilt-shift miniaturisation to Eleanor McColl's pop-art cutouts, from the precision of Stefan Irvine's strip Tong Laus to David Elliott's metronomic grid-like warehouses. This is our eternally fascinating city, familiar yet always surprising - this is our Hong Kong.
