Celebrations is Clare Ashford's first major solo exhibition. For this collection, Clare has employed Chinese technique to paint Eastern subjects through Western eyes. It is this cultural blend that makes the interpretation of her subjects so unusual and interesting. In the artist’s own words: “I am particularly fascinated by people, costumes and movement and also by patterns created by the repetition of multiple images”.
Clare is a British born artist and long time Hong Kong resident. She was a finalist at the 2005 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
